Parent Child Home Program

(PCHP)

Lawrence Parent Child Home Program

Traditional Model:

The LPCHP has been helping parents understand the importance reading, talking and playing with their young children (18 months to 3 years) in order to encourage healthy development and to ensure children enter school ready to learn.

Also through reading and play, parents and children will bond in a healthy stress free environment, through home visits conducted 2 times weekly for two years the children receive free toys and books to enhance language skills and prepare for preschool.

The Homeless Family Model:

PCHP also works with families who are experiencing homelessness and have a child who is 18 months – 3 years old. Families experience overwhelming challenges due to homelessness or borderline homelessness ( 2, 3 or more families living together). It is the mission of the JFSP to outreach to and work with these families to encourage healthy interactions through literacy and play. Families receive a 1 hour home visit per week (at the location of the family’s choice) over a two year period fostering a calm and interactive play time while teaching the child skills to prepare them for pre-school.
